iNTRODUCTION:

Mr Toland is Longstone's answer to all your diy sos stories. Can he fix it?? .... You'll just have to come along to his classes and discover the answer. Technology and Design is timetabled for all Middle and Senior pupils with Mr Toland, Technology is taught by individual Junior school teachers with, were necessary, assistance from the T&D department.

At Longstone we have recently had a complete re-vamp of both our Design and manufacturing rooms greatly improving our space and updating our machinery and resources.

In Technology and Design, our pupils get the opportunity to make various projects in wood, plastic and metal. Some projects also involve the use of the computers in the dust free design room, before completion in the manufacturing room.

The highest priority is given to the safety of the pupils, whilst at the same time enabling them to do as much 'hands on' as possible. There is a real sense of achievement and pride whan their projects are completed and ready to go home. As their experience and knowledge in Technology increases through carefully planned projects for each year group.
