iNTRODUCTION:
Our PE Teacher is Mr Starrs, and he looks after the physical education of all our pupils at Longstone School. Each pupil from the youngest to the oldest is timetabled for PE and has the opportunity to try many different sports. On site we have a well equipment Sports Hall and playing fields. At present we are adding a fitness suite to our resources, which we hope will be up and 'running' in the new school year. With all the additional concerns about the health and well being of young people, Mr Starrs is able to offer many different activities for our pupils for exercise and enjoyment, in both team and individual roles. Aerobics is available once a week to our senior pupils and this is taken by a specialist instructor. The concept of good sportsmanship is taught as an important aspect of sport, and enjoyment in the activity over results.
In addition to the timetabled PE available our older pupils also get the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme. This has proved very popular and has been most enjoyable for the children who have taken part so far. For more details you can click on this DUKE OF EDINBURGH link to find out more and see some pictures of our kids in action!
Another aspect of the Physical Education would be competition. These are covered in more detail on the COMPETITIONS pages.
